Dr. Preter offers individualized assessments, consultations and treatment within the field of child, adolescent and adult psychiatry. Individual psychotherapy, parent guidance and psychopharmacology are offered, tailored to each individual’s needs. Dr. Preter assesses and treats disorders such as anxiety disorders, including obsessive-compulsive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder, mood disorders (depression and bipolar disorder), eating disorders, and attention-deficit disorder. Dr. Preter assesses developmental disorders, including autism and performs forensic consultations. Dr. Preter has a European educational background and has a particular expertise and interest in working with international families.
Dr. Preter teaches at New York Presbyterian Hospital (Cornell) and works on clinical research projects in the areas of juvenile onset bipolar disorder, velo-cardio-facial Syndrome and post-traumatic stress disorder.
