Dr. Towfigh graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and obtained his medical degree at Georgetown University where he also completed his neurology training and served as Chief Resident in his final year. He subsequently pioneered the Sleep Medicine Fellowship Program at Cornell University’s, Weill Cornell Medical College. From there he went on to become the Director of Neurology & Sleep Medicine Division at a New York Presbyterian affiliate hospital. He then joined a prominent Park Avenue practice serving as the Director of Neurophysiology and Sleep Medicine before becoming the Medical Director of New York Neurology & Sleep Medicine, P.C.

Dr. Allen Towfigh is licensed and Board-Certified in both Neurology as well as Sleep Medicine, with expertise in the evaluation and treatment of all adult neurological and sleep related complaints. He is affiliated with the Weill-Cornell Medical College and the New York Presbyterian Hospital as well as the Hospital for Special Surgery. As a Clinical Instructor at Cornell Medical College and an Assistant Attending Neurologist at New York Presbyterian Hospital, he lectures medical students and residents and teaches them to spend time fostering relationships with patients and to listen to their questions and concerns. Over the years Dr. Towfigh has witnessed this traditional way of delivering care become increasingly strained so he founded New York Neurology & Sleep Medicine, P.C. to protect and preserve this time honored practice of medicine.

As an experienced neurologist, patients come from all over the world to see him. He regularly lectures at conferences and academic centers throughout the country and he has been a guest on both radio and television and has been cited throughout the media as an expert in the fields of neurology and sleep medicine. Dr. Towfigh has lectured and is published in areas of stroke, epilepsy, neurodegenerative diseases and sleep medicine.
