Introduction
Dr. Gregory E. Lutz is Physiatrist In Chief Emeritus at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) and a Professor of Clinical Rehabilitation Medicine at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. In addition, he is the Founder and Medical Director of Regenerative SportsCare Institute (RSI) in Manhattan. With over 25 years of clinical experience, Dr. Lutz is one of the world’s leading experts in the field of regenerative sports medicine, specializing in intradiscal biologic injections and the non‐surgical management of spine and joint injuries. He has pioneered novel approaches to the treatment of degenerative disc disease and other musculoskeletal disorders, using regenerative procedures (platelet-rich plasma, autologous cell, and fibrin injections) to successfully treat many injuries previously considered incurable. Dr. Lutz has been named to New York Magazine’s and Castle Connolly’s “Top Doctors” lists for the past 15 years running. A graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine, Dr. Lutz pursued his specialty training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, before completing an Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at Hospital for Special Surgery. As a former Assistant Team Physician for the NY Mets and a Consulting Physician to the NHL’s Players Association, Dr. Lutz has successfully treated professional athletes in the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, and ATP, in addition to business leaders, entertainers, and top performers of all kinds. He has been featured in NBC’s The Today Show, The New York Times, The Huffington Post, Newsweek, Oprah Magazine, The New York Post, The New York Daily News, The Epoch Times, Orthopedics Today, and WNBC New York. Currently, Dr. Lutz’ research is focused on determining the clinical efficacy of advanced biologic treatments for degenerative disc disease and osteoarthritis of the hip and knee joints. He is regularly invited to lecture around the world to educate other physicians about novel techniques and research in the field of regenerative medicine.
